WhatsApp will no longer support older iOS versions, including those earlier than iOS 15.1. If your iPhone is running an iOS version older than 15.1, you will no longer be able to use WhatsApp, even if you have a previous beta version through TestFlight
Currently, WhatsApp supports iOS 12 and later versions. However, with the upcoming update, the app will require at least iOS 15.1 for basic functionality, meaning users with older iOS versions will no longer be able to use the app
WhatsApp is giving users a 5-month notice period to update their iOS version. The update, which will require at least iOS 15.1, will begin rolling out in May 2025, providing ample time for users to save their WhatsApp data and update their devices
Older iPhone models, such as the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus, only support up to iOS 12.5.7. After the update, these models will no longer be able to run WhatsApp
To update your device to a compatible iOS version: go to Settings on your phone > click on General > select Software Update > click on the Update option to install the latest iOS version
iPhones running iOS versions below 15.1 but capable of updating to the latest iOS version will still be able to use WhatsApp without issues after the update, as long as they upgrade to iOS 15.1 or later
Make sure to stay informed about the changes and update your iOS on time to continue using WhatsApp without disruptions
