Apple has started recruiting employees for its upcoming retail stores in India signifying a major milestone in the company's growth. Apple plans to open new stores in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pune.
Apple store leader John Taaffe announced the hiring initiative in a LinkedIn post. He wrote "We're thrilled to announce the launch of four new Apple retail stores in Pune, Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bangalore! Apple's journey in India has been remarkable, and we're excited to keep expanding in these dynamic cities."
Apple's careers portal "Jobs at Apple" has posted more than 20 job openings this month with nearly half dedicated to retail operations. Taaffe also encouraged candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply stating "Whether you have retail experience or are looking to embark on a new career path, exciting opportunities await you."
Apple's retail growth in India comes after the successful debut of its first two stores Apple BKC in Mumbai & Apple Saket in Delhi which opened in 2023. These locations have attracted substantial customer traffic especially during iPhone launches highlighting India's crucial role in Apple's global strategy.
Deirdre O'Brien the company's senior vice president of retail said that Apple views its retail stores as more than just sales outlets. He stated, "Our stores offer a unique opportunity to experience the magic of Apple, and it has been amazing to strengthen our bond with customers in India."
Apple has seen strong performance in the Indian market as emphasised by CEO Tim Cook during the company's Q1 2025 earnings call. Cook stated that "We set a new record for iPhone sales in India during the December quarter, with the iPhone becoming the best-selling model in the country for the period."
Apple's expanded focus on India comes as no surprise. The company has consistently ramped up its investments in the country from local manufacturing to software development. The launch of 4 new stores is yet another step toward strengthening its presence in a market with significant growth potential.
Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that India is the world's second-largest smartphone market and the third largest for PCs and tablets.
